St. Philips
Miranda Lopez

Introduction

Miranda started her pupillage in October 2021 and will be accepting work in April 2022 when she begins her Second Sixth. Miranda joined St Philips as a pupil straight after Bar School at BPP University and has been supervised by Sarah Buxton and Victoria Edmonds.

Prior to beginning her legal training Miranda completed a BA (Hons) and MA in Drama and worked in various roles.  Miranda went back to university to begin her legal training and undertook an LLM in Law and a CPE. She then went on to attend Bar School at BPP University.  Whilst doing the BPTC she volunteered for Pro Bono work and was able to gain valuable experience in court and assisting litigants.

During her time as a pupil, Miranda has been able to gain a wealth of experience by observing barristers in Chambers. Miranda has been able to observe a wide range of different hearings during her pupillage including, to name a few, multi-day fact-finding hearings in care proceedings in which complex medical issues and evidence had to be considered, acrimonious contested private law proceedings, high-value finance proceedings, TOLATA claims and Deprivation of Liberty Orders under the Inherent Jurisdiction. In addition to these areas, Miranda is developing an interest in Court of Protection work.
