Welcome from the Head of the Family Group

St Philips Family is one of the largest groups of family law barristers in the country offering a vast breadth of experience and the highest ability in advocacy and advice.

Every family case is important; the decisions made by the court can affect the families involved for years if not generations.

Most are also complex.  Family cases involve looking backwards into the past but also into the future.  Whether involving finance, children, domestic abuse, care or adoption, or international issues, this double perspective gives rise to their complexity and challenge.

Good advocacy and advice are fundamental to achieving good outcomes.  St Philips Family is well equipped to provide these.

Good advocacy and advice require ability.  Our barristers are extremely able. Our clients regularly tell us so.  The legal directories and reported cases underline this.

We recognise however that ability on its own is not enough.  If we are to serve our clients effectively, we must also be accessible and approachable.

“St Philips Chambers houses expert family barristers experienced across a range of children and matrimonial finance matters. Their financial remedy capabilities include cases involving trusts and pensions, as well as those further complicated by tax and inheritance concerns. Members of the set provide both public and private children law experience, handling matters such as international child abduction, and allegations of neglect and sexual abuse.” – Chambers UK

“I have worked with clerks up and down the country. This set is head and shoulders above the rest. Led by the impressive Mark Mansell, he has a unique ability to enthuse all those around him with his passion for delivering a first class service. Kelly Fullwood is a senior clerk in the making alongside Anthony Burgess who is extremely affable.” – Legal 500

“The clerks in this set are second to none, Mark, Anthony and Kelly F deserve a specific mention as always being helpful and going above and beyond to secure us an appropriate barrister.” – Legal 500

‘The clerking team is superb, led very well by the vastly experienced Mark Mansell with outstanding junior clerks in Kelly Fullwood and Anthony Burgess who are efficient, effective and very helpful. They have an excellent manner and provide an excellent service.’ – Legal 500

“The clerks are always helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble.” – Legal 500

‘”The clerks at St Philips endeavour to ensure that you are offered counsel with the appropriate seniority for a case. They also ensure that you are happy with the service provided and offer a good level of client care.” – Legal 500

“As ever, the clerking team at St Philips is first-class, led by senior family clerk Mark Mansell who is the standout family clerk in the Midlands.” “The clerks are responsive, flexible and there’s a real team sense.” “The clerking service is very good. Their response time is excellent and they are well tuned to the needs of a particular case.” – Chambers and Partners
